Cadillac V-Series Anniversary Marks 15 Years of Uncompromising Luxury and Performance
15 years ago, the Cadillac V-Series made its debut. It started with the CTS-V, which was introduced in spring 2004. The car was a reimagining of what a Cadillac could be. It combined the company’s legendary luxury with a supremely powerful 5.7-liter 400-horsepower V8 engine. It shook up the automotive industry and redefined consumer expectations.
The V-Series ensured that Cadillac would be known for thrilling performance, as well as the lavish comforts people have admired for decades. Its mix of American muscle and unparalleled luxury greatly broadened the appeal of Cadillac. Long known as a brand that offered extravagant comfort, the Cadillac V-Series added menacing speed to the lineup.
Cadillac V-Series is a Dream for Performance-Minded Drivers
The Cadillac V-Series has been introduced to several other models since its debut 15 years ago. The XLR, STS, ATS, and CT6 lines all had V-Series variants. They were Cadillacs for drivers that craved premium performance. Each model coupled magnificent appointments with cutting-edge V8 and V6 engines.
The current ATS-V sports a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that puts out 464 horsepower. The current CTS-V has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that generates a massive 640 horsepower. The most recent V-Series variant, the CT6-V, was the first car to use the hand-built 4.2-liter twin-turbo 550-horsepower Blackwing engine. The initial run of the CT6-V sold out in hours.
The company recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of the V-Series and reflected on its transformative success. General Motors president Mark Reuss said:
From the very beginning, Cadillac’s V-Series represented the ultimate expression of our design, technology, and performance. It introduced an entirely new breed of performance-minded customers to Cadillac showrooms and helped transform the brand’s traditional image into one with different facets for customers’ varying driving tastes.
CT4-V and CT5-V Continue the Cadillac V-Series Legacy
To continue the Cadillac V-Series tradition of powerful luxury, the company has introduced two new V-Series models — the CT4-V and CT5-V. The new cars made their global debut on May 30, 2019 in Detroit. Like its forerunners, these sedans combine opulence with immense speed.
Like the V-Series variants before it, the CT4-V and CT5-V aren’t simply a matter of placing a powerful motor inside of a luxuriously designed vehicle. Cadillac executive chief engineer Brandon Vivian noted:
V-Series is a philosophy as much as the unique components comprising each variant. That means the various V-Series models offer distinctive driving experiences, but always distilled through Cadillac’s unique perspective on spirited performance.
Through 15 years of refinement and experimentation, the Cadillac V-Series has reached new heights. The new CT4-V and CT5-V models continue the exemplary tradition and are the future of the series.
